Returning Home

Today, just as I was waking up, my mom ran into my room, telling me to hurry up and get dressed. I didn't know what was going on, but I did as she said, and fifteen minutes later hopped into the truck with my sister and took off.
We only drove a few minutes before she pulled into a restaurant parking lot and cut the engine. She jumped out and took the American flag off of the tailgate and we waked up to a small crowd on the sidewalk - all of them carrying American flags in various sizes. They gave me one and there we stood.
After a half an hour of standing in the heat, the traffic suddenly cleared on one side of the median. A few cop cars passed, and then a few motorcycles passed. A few minutes later, more officers passed in different vehicles, lights flashing, some sirens blaring.
When the vehicle carrying the casket passed, every American flag in hand rose to the sky in respect to the fallen soldier returning home. SSgt. Matthew Sitton (Army Ranger sniper) died at age 26 after stepping on an improvised explosive device in Afghanistan. His family passed after him, windows rolled down with tears in their eyes at the silent support from numerous strangers. I found myself misty-eyed at the sobering sight.
It was amazing to see so much support from American citizens to our troops. Whether in the form of following on a motorcycle or raising the flag as they passed, there was no doubt that they had support. They were assured that their son or husband or brother had not died in vain.
No matter where you are from, or what country you reside, everyone can relate to something like this. Giving your country support happens all over the world.
I hope that everyone who reads this gains...something. Anything. Maybe you will get a flutter in your chest, maybe you will find a deeper meaning only you understand. Whatever it may be, I hope that after reading this, you have gained something you didn't have before.
God bless my troops.

Apology

To anybody who is still waiting for an update on "Heavy in your Arms" or "The Good Brother" or any of my other stories, I'm so sorry you're having to wait so long. I haven't forgotten them and I plan to finish all of them, but right now I just can't get into it. When I write, I have to have inspiration - I can write without it, for sure, but then they aren't to their full potential. Most of my chapters write themselves, and I almost can't get them down fast enough, but with pretty much all of my stories right now, I can't get them down at all. So, hopefully I still have some readers, and to those few I am trying my best to find inspiration so I can post the next chapter. Please don't give up on the story - I promise I will try to get them up. I think I might have actually found inspiration in Adam Young's side project Port Blue. Amazing album to anyone who is interested.
Again, I'm sorry for the wait, and hopefully it won't be long.

TextNovel 2012 Contest

I was doing a bit of browsing, and I decided to check out Textnovel.com (for those who have never heard of Textnovel, it's is the same website that got 13 to Life by Shannon Delaney published - great book, BTW). Here is just a watered-down version of the requirements (for a more detailed description, click here- http://www.textnovel.com/contestrules.php ):

• Winner is picked by Textnovel.com Editorial Advisory Board.
• $1,500 in Cash Prizes ($1,000 for Grand Prize Winner(s), $500 for Reader's Choice Winner(s)) plus possible publishing or literary agency contract.
• Contest begins on April 1, 2012 -- must have 50,000 words up by End of Contest (described in Official Rules) -- but more words are fine!
• Must be 13 years or older to enter.
• Can enter one free Basic Story that started on or after April 1, 2012 per author (and as many Premium Stories as you want).
• Stories that were previous Finalists or Semi-Finalists in any contest on Textnovel are not eligible.

The end of the contest is still being determined (rumored to be October 31, 2012 or December 31, 2012).

I don't know about you, but I'm certainly going to be participating for a chance to be published. Due to that, I may not be updating as much as some of you would like - but I am not abandoning any of my stories. How could I do that when I have so many awesome readers?
Let me know if you are going to take part in this contest (I need to know what I'm up against xD).
Good Luck to those who decide to try it!

FF.N New Guidelines

So, it seems FanFiction.net has some new guidelines. As of June 4 (3 days ago) the administrators will be taking down any stories containing lemons or extreme violence. Personally, I think that's a bit extreme. To take down an author's story without any notice or time to take it down themselves is wrong. They could make an MA rating available, or at least send an email explaining why your story is in jeopardy and a warning to take it down or modify it by a certain date. They could even require registration to read stories rated M.
There are many people who post stories online, thinking they are safe, and delete them off of their computer. By doing what they are doing, they could be deleting that story without any way of the author having backup so they could post it on another website.
If you agree, there is a petition going around. Sign your username at the bottom and post to your stories, ANs, profiles, etc. (You'll find mine on my profile.) Hopefully, this can be resolved reasonably. As most of you know, if this does start to really take effect, some of my stories will be deleted, and if that happens, I will start posting on Wattpad. I love FF.N, I think it's a great website, but if they want to keep their readers, they need to consider some of our suggestions.

What this blog is about

I originally wanted to make a blog to post my writing and get it out there. But as I thought more about it, I realized that a blog solely based on my whimsical writings would be extremely boring after a while. So I decided to make this an all-purpose blog. I'll post some of my writings, extensive thoughts I find interesting, even writing contests that I come across and (unofficial) "promotions", if you will, for some of my favorite singers and bands.
For anybody coming from FanFiction.net: Instead of having super long A/Ns at the beginning and end of each chapter, I'll post most of my info on here. Say for instance, I'm going on vacation or I need suggestions, this would be where I post them. So check this out every so often in case I post some info pertaining to any of my stories.
Hopefully you find this blog interesting.
Thanks for visiting!
